OUR STORY

(above) The original 67 Kids To School team (2015)
In 2015, 4 learners at SACS High School - Matthew Begg, Benjamin Defty, Todd Sundstrom, and Nick Clement - decided to put their desire to enact positive and long-lasting change in Masiphumelele, into action. Thus 67 Kids To School - a sustainable, non-profit project - was born. Inspired by Nelson Mandela's 67 years of service to South Africa, we aim to provide 67 grade 1 learners in Masiphumelele (whom we call our Shining Stars ) with everything they need to start their school careers.

Every year, a new group of SACS learners takes over the management of the project. Five years on, we - the 2020 group - aim to build on the incredible legacy of our predecessors. As a tribute to Tata Madiba and in recognition of our 5th Birthday, we'd like to raise the largest total in 67 Kids' history.
We live in one of the most unequal societies in the world - a country where the vast majority of the population is still trying to break free from the shackles of oppression. Due to their socio-economic circumstances, many South Africans, our brothers and sisters, do not have the opportunity to receive an education - a passport to the future.

Our aim is to assist in providing such a passport to those who'd love to prepare for the future - yet lack the means of doing so.

OUR
PARTNERS

67 Kids To School is privileged to be partnered with Living Hope - a Christian non-profit organisation whose vision is to reach people for Christ, bringing hope and breaking the despair of poverty and disease. Living Hope undertakes community development through educational, social, income generation, and health related programmes; and plays a vital role in the prevention, care and treatment of people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses.

Any additional funding will go to assisting Living Hope and communities in need, as happened in 2017 with funding to school kids in Imizamo Yethu, who lost everything in the fires.
