A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME:
My name is Nicolas Anema. I am 17 years old and attend SACS High School.Although I was born in Argentina, I am a firm patriot and my love for South Africa runs deep. My family plays a huge role in my life. I have three brothers (way too much testosterone in the house...) and two moms (not in the way that you think. I regard, Phikelwa ("Phiekie"), my nanny since birth, as my second mother).
I have a passion for running and consider it to be an integral part of my identity. I dabble in Athletics, Cross Country, and the sporadic longer-distance. During Lockdown, my brothers and I attempted our first marathon .... in our garden. Although it was a success, the occasion cost us our legs! The next day we were walking like penguins!
It is an honor to be apart of the 67 Kids To School team. I, and many like me, have incredibly privileged existences. With this privilege comes great responsibility: the responsibility to work towards improving the lives of those who are not as fortunate as we are. The perfect place is to start is with the younger generation - they are our future! To raise awareness and funds for 67 Kids To School, Josh Grieveson and I will be collectively running 67 KM on Mandela Day. The event - 67 KM for 67 Kids - will be streamed online and we hope to see you there!
“At the end of the day, it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished… it’s about whom you’ve lifted up, whom you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back.”
― Denzel Washington
